Tibetan Mandala - Meditation in Action

September 5th, 2008

Mandalas are said to help shift the center of consciousness to a higher state just by observing and contemplating their intricate and creative patterns. In Tibetan Buddhism the creation of colorful mandala from sand is itself an act of meditation and serves to reinforce the impermanence of life, and illusory nature of reality. After the beautiful mandalas are created the the individual grains of sand are blown away to reveal the emptiness of the universe and also the potential to create another masterpiece.
