The source of all reality

May 28th, 2007

In a previous post I wrote about mystical experiences accessed through meditation and how these moments of connection to a higher source can be both inspiring and shed light on the nature of reality. I previously described the idea of each of our subjective realities intersecting and creating the broader understanding of reality through amplification where there are congruences. In a subsequent meditative session I had another deep and impactfull vision of our connectedness to the universe.

My vision began with the understanding that we are not our egos, bodies, thoughts, emotions or anything else we experience directly. The witness or the I (or third eye) is perceiving my own consciousness above and beyond my physical sense. I began to feel this witness deeply, going deeper and deeper into this perspective. I started to feel that this witness was almost like a field of energy that connected me (the writer) with everything and everyone else. I imagined that this energy was visible as a soft and pure white light that animated and brought life to everything. This energy field extended out of my physical being and joined together with all the other energy fields emanating from all other living things. This energy then formed an envelope or sphere that held everything in the universe within it. In another sense this energy surrounded the universe, and sent branch like projections into the dimension of our physical reality and brought forth the life force animating and powering all that we see. This force connects each of us to a higher divine source, such that there is no beginning or end to our spirit. Spirit being another name for this force.

As individuals coming into existence we are connected to this source and are always connected to it whether we are aware of it or not. When we pass on our essence, our spirit, this energy returns to the source and is not created or destroyed. This energy simultaneously connects to each of us in this moment, in the past, and in the future. From the perspective of this source there is no such thing as time only the now. The past, present and future are all happening now. Those that are deeply connected to this source can access non-local intelligence, can have access to information from the past, present, and future that is not readily accessible from a logical perspective. Insight, intuition, claravoience, synchronicity, all forms of non-local intelligence emanate from this source.

When we meet someone that seems to be shining, they are full of energy and life, radiant in there own aliveness they are in complete harmony or in the flow of this energy. For most of everyone else, we have not come to love ourselves and in essence have yet to become one with this source. Attainment of this state can be temporary or permanent, and is the state of satori, finding nirvana or enlightenment. Once we come to realize that no matter what we are all manifestations of this divine source and we represent the very mystery we strive to understand and uncover, we can rest secure in this understanding. The freedom this affords is liberating and emancipating. Those the feel this energy, this source can use it with equal effectiveness and can achieve amazing feats in this physical world through acts of love or acts of power. Those that can only understand their ego and the physical realm use the manifestation of this energy as power. Power in the way that rules the lives of us on this planet. Those that use this energy, this source of all life in ways that transcend themselves through love are those we consider saints, bodhisattvas, gurus, mystics and prophets. This energy has the potential to enslave us or set us free, to destroy us or allow us to evolve to higher planes of existence.

When we consider the world around us we are inclined to label things as good and evil. From our subjective perspective this is true, there is both beauty and ugliness in this world, however the animating force behind both is the same. In this way we can feel less attachment to the trials and tribulations we encounter and focus instead on the underlying sameness and source we all share and to which we will all return. There is an underlying intelligence at the center of this energy, a loving, guiding hand that set us in motion on the path of evolution, and which brings us closer to our higher selves.

Imogen Heap - Just for Now

May 23rd, 2007

Sometimes it is hard not to get caught up in the grind of daily life, it is easy to get lost in worries about what tomorrow will bring. Our world is faced with such uncertainty and darkness that at times it seems that there is little hope. It is during these moments that we need to remember the beauty that surrounds us. The life force animating all things and the invisible hand that guides our evolution toward a greater state of peace and harmony. All we have is this moment, this one secular point in time, and we can choose to see the beauty or the chaos. We need to be aware of what is going on around us and what is being perpetrated to this planet, but we can never forget that we are part of something that transcends all time and space and that will continue on this path that began millions of years before. Watching and participating in the creative process can reconnect us with this divine source of life and beauty and can lift us up from the mud to blossom and open like the petals of a lotus. Watching this video fills me with this sense of the beauty of the now and fills me with overflowing emotion. Enjoy.

The Celestine Prophecy

May 22nd, 2007

Many of you have have heard of the book, some of you may have even watched the movie I came across this book through a friend over 10 years ago. At the time I read it I was just beginning on my path toward deeper meaning. It seemed at the time a little hoky but inspirational with some real wisdom held in the insights. As I have moved though life and have come to know the world in different ways the message of the book seems to call out even more strongly to me now. Apart from the ability to see ‘halos’ or someone’s aura I think the book is accessible to anyone. The movie stretched imagination, but generally that’s what movies do. But beneath the story line, the characters, and the auras I think there is some real and profound truth that our world desperately needs today. So for those of you whom have read the book, this is a reminder, for those that have never this represents a new paradigm for the continuing evolution of our species.

The Nine Insights

1. We are discovering again that we live in a deeply mysterious world, full of sudden coincidences and synchronistic encounters that seem destined.

2. As more of us awaken to this mystery, we will create a completely new worldview - redefining the universe as energetic and sacred.

3. We will discover that everything around us, all matter, consists of and stems from a divine energy that we are beginning to see and understand.

4. From this perspective, we can see that humans have always felt insecure and disconnected from this sacred source, and have tried to take energy by dominating each other. This struggle is responsible for all human conflict.

5. The only solution is to cultivate a personal reconnection with the divine, a mystical transformation that fills us with unlimited energy and love, extends our perception of beauty, and lifts us into a higher self-awareness.

6. In this awareness, we can release our pattern of controlling, and discover a specific truth, a mission, we are here to share that helps evolve humanity toward this new level of reality.

7. In pursuit of this mission, we can discover an inner intuition that shows us where to go and what to do, and if we make only positive interpretations, brings a flow of coincidences that open the doors of our mission to unfold.

8. When enough of us enter this evolutionary flow, always giving energy to the higher-self of everyone we meet, we build a new culture where our bodies evolve to even higher levels of energy and perception.

9. In this way, we participate in the long journey of evolution from the Big Bang to life’s ultimate goal: to energize our bodies, generation by generation, until we walk into a heaven we can finally see.

Imagining the Tenth Dimension

May 16th, 2007

When considering the world around us we frequently ponder the three dimensions of our physical space and the fourth dimension of time. When we hear talk of other dimensions or higher dimensions often it is with respect to dimensions of consciousness or awareness, or even higher spiritual planes. In physics the idea of higher dimensions has come to the forefront with theories explaining the nature of the universe. String Theory, The Theory of Everything and M Theory are the current leading edge of theoretical physics. Most of us not being theoretical physicists or cosmologists struggle with the idea and perception of dimensions higher than the 4th magnitude. The idea of parallel universes strikes a cord in the imagination, but how these parallel realities fit in with our own seem to defy all logic and reason. Rob Bryanton has authored a book and created an 11 minute animation that seeks to answer some of the these big questions and help the average person come to terms with the multiverse. This perspective is not meant to be one absolutely grounded in current theories of physics but to explore possibilities of the nature of reality and even help to define spiritually in the post-post modern world. The author Rob Bryanton also has a blog which is quite interesting and invites others to share their connection with this perspective on reality.

Awareness, Consciousness, and the YOUniverse

May 13th, 2007

When contemplating one’s awareness it is helpful to consider different perspectives, orientations and alternate angles to fully penetrate the illusion of the ego as the self.

This method of self-enquiry, sometimes called ‘headlessness’ or ’seeing who you really are’ (’seeing’ for short), has been pioneered by the English philosopher and workshop leader Douglas E. Harding, born in 1909. It is a contemporary approach which investigates the question Who am I? and suggests that you can see Who you really are here and now. It provides simple but deep awareness exercises that direct you to this Seeing within yourself. See www.headless.org

The Nature of our Universe

May 13th, 2007

In the words of Eric Idle:

Just remember that you’re standing on a planet that’s evolving
and revolving at 900 miles an hour,
It’s orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it’s reckoned,
the sun that is the source of all our power.
The Sun and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour,
of the Galaxy we call the Milky Way.

Our Galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars,
it’s 100,000 light-years side-to-side,
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light-years thick,
but out by us it’s just 3,000 light-years wide.
We’re 30,000 light-years from galactic central point,
we go round every 200 million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
in this amazing and expanding universe.

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
in all of the directions it can whiz,
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light you know,
twelve million miles a minute, and that’s the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you’re feeling very small and insecure,
how amazingly unlikely is your birth,
Pray that there’s intelligent life somewhere up in space,
because there’s bugger all down here on Earth.
A scientific analysis of this can be found here, by the way.

Is it just me or is getting hot in here?

Not to be an alarmist, but our house in on fire. The fire alarm is going off. So we have a choice. Put ear plugs in and go back to sleep or we can wake up and do something about it. I am saddened and dismayed when people still question whether or not the smoke detector is working. We don’t have time to worry about whether we replaced the battery or not, we need to take action How can we sleep when our beds are burning?
